Bodrum Painter Artist: Tamer Şahinoğlu

After moving to Aegean town Bodrum in 1999, he continued his work with diversified experiments with multiple disciplines, stating that he does not subscribe to a specific discipline or art style. Although, it has been observed that the work in his recent exhibitions suggests that his style leans more towards abstract art. Tamer Sahinoglu is inspired by the multicultural and rich history of Turkey, which is an important aspect of his artwork. He is also motivated by the extensive archeological wealth of a country that has been home to many different civilizations. Sahinoglu’s work touches on themes such as the bi-continental nature of Turkey and its maritime importance. Using various techniques such as airbrush, impasto, and spatula simultaneously, Sahinoglu has been able to capture the attention of art fans with his storytelling and use of themes and vibrant colors. Sahinoglu has always insisted that a large part of his artwork is inspired by the vegetation cover and local architecture that surrounds him in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions of Turkey. The cactuses, fishes, boatyards, boats, white houses, and light rays that are abundant in the Aegean, have always been a source of inspiration for Tamer Sahinoglu. The way he portrays these themes with his imaginative spatula technique is an important aspect of his unique art style. Sahinoglu allows the audience to elicit the concepts he is trying to portray, rather than explicitly presenting them – this has resulted in him gaining respect among critics and art historians. He supplies seasoned art fans with novel discoveries as he not only illustrates the objective aspects of his work but also uses experimental methods to portray his artwork. Sahinoglu, whose artwork has been collected by art lovers in countries such as the U.K., France, the Netherlands, Belgium, China, the U.S.A., Canada, and Greece, continues his work in his atelier at Bodrum.
